First Renewable Energy in Davao Oriental

THE Davao Oriental Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DORECO) and the LGS Renewable Energies, Corp. (LGS) signed on May 21, 2024, a Power Supply Agreement (PSA) for the sale of electricity from the LGS 1- megawatt (MW) Osmena Hydroelectric Power Plant located in Barangay Sergio Osmena, Gov. Generoso, Davao Oriental.

The project will harness the water resources of the Dumagook River through a run-of-river electrical system, and is envisioned to improve the voltage quality in the municipality of Gov. Generoso and nearby areas.

It is the first renewable energy project to be embedded in the DORECO’s distribution system. The PSA was signed by DORECO president Emma Concepcion C. Visto and LGS president Jose Simeon S. Gonzalez with DORECO GM Ferdinand P. Hernaez and LGS AVP Earle D. Ferrer, Jr. as witnesses.

In an earlier report, Board of Director Titto dela Vega representing District II (San Isidro and Governor Generoso) said that this project will surely help the people in the Municipality of Governor Generoso with their electricity challenges.

The report also sai that LGS Renewable Energies President Jose Simeon S. Gonzales highlighted that the essence of partnership with DORECO is not merely as a supplier or power distributor but as partners in providing cleaner and reliable power supply for the people in Davao Oriental as he further expressed that great things and potentials are coming in the province.

DORECO is grateful for this new milestone even as it said that as a cohesive team, it will work, support and encourage one another for the welfare of their valued member-consumer-owners. (PR)

DTI, SM forge pact on consumer advocacy

The regional office of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-XI) and SM Supermalls have teamed up to raise shoppers’ awareness through having online webisodes on consumer advocacy.

(L-R) DTI XI regional director Maria Belenda Q. Ambi, DTI XI assistant regional director Delia M. Ayano and Engr. Jonathan Nick D. Santos, regional manager for operations of SM Supermalls – Mindanao in the virtual signing ceremony on the partnership of DTI with SM Supermalls on Konsyumer Sagot Kita Program.

Beginning this month, information education materials from DTI XI will be posted every Monday at the official social media pages of SM City Davao and SM Lanang Premier, where each has over 200,000 followers.

“Even this time of pandemic, we still need to intensify our consumer awareness program and empower our consumers on their rights and responsibilities,” shares DTI XI regional director Maria Belenda Q. Ambi.

The department, she said, is now taking their information campaign through online platforms with SM as partner for a wider consumer reach.

“Under the Konsyumer Sagot Kita Program, we are thankful that SM Supermalls has accepted a partnership with us so they can also help us in promoting consumer awareness and consumer education advocacy,” says Ambi.

Both DTI XI and SM Supermalls signed memorandum of understanding on July 30 to seal the partnership. Webisodes in the pipeline include topics on business name registration, price tag and online shopping.

With this partnership, Engr. Jonathan Nick D. Santos, regional manager for operations of SM Supermalls – Mindanao, says shoppers will have easy access on information especially on consumer rights and other advocacies.

“We are one with DTI XI in this endeavor on raising consumer awareness,” says Santos.
