The Davao Travel Agencies Association (DTAA) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) announces the holding of the Davao Megal Travel Sale this year.
The organizers are all set to offer varieties of exciting and affordable promos on airfare, hotels, resorts, tours at the 14th Davao Mega Travel Sale this month.
Business, leisure or a mix of both- bleisure, Rogen showcased its capabilities as a competent meetings, incentive travel, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) venue in Davao at the recently concluded MICECon 2023.

The increasing demand for meeting spaces in the last few months prompted Rogen Inn to convert spaces in the inn to conference rooms.
The events that transpired in August and last quarter of 2022, when the ballroom of the inn was the venue to private events and corporate meetings filled the weekday daytime ballroom calendar, was the indication that more meeting spaces were needed.
“We went through all the pros and cons of converting each of the spaces in the inn. Considering that Rogen Inn targets businessmen as its main market, the needs of this group make it our priority,” said Gene Bangayan,” manager of Rogen Inn.
Since Rogen Inn opened its doors less than a year ago, the inn has been the venue to countless business meetings in the planning of the MICEcon 2023 scheduled early this March. With the hotel manager taking a significant role in the Davao Organizing Committee as Co-Chairperson representing the private sector, Rogen Inn played host to the frequent pre-event meetings.

Rogen Inn was one of the seven partner hotels during MICECon 2023, the premier gathering for top-notch industry leaders in the travel, tourism and event management. The inn was one of the residences for delegates during the three-day conference.

“During the duration of the MICECon 2023, Rogen Inn accommodated around 10% of the total number of delegates who arrived for the face-to-face conference in Davao. Emerging from the pandemic, this year’s edition of the conference was hybrid with about 2,000 delegates joining the conference online,” shared Bangayan.
Beyond the role of accommodating the delegates comfortably in the deluxe rooms, Rogen Inn was host to one of the luncheons.
With the expertise of an event stylist, the Rogen Inn ballroom was transformed into a dreamy forest to fit the MICECon “Flora and Fauna” luncheon theme of the day. The table settings were accentuated with Davao tribe trimmings to complement the “Celebrating Diversity” sub-theme of the day’s conference. Both the themes highlight Nature-based Tourism and Sustainable Tourism, in which the MICE industry plays a crucial role in its growth.

The spotlight was on Davao cuisine. Catering for 200 delegates, Villa Margarita prepared a curated meal that integrated several local must-eat on the menu including tuna and Davao’s fresh fruits in season.

Rogen Inn is an active participant in the MICE industry. Since it opened in May 2022, just as the pandemic health restrictions were easing up, the nine-month old hospitality establishment performed impressively recording high rates on room and function hall occupancy.

M.I.C.E. is an acronym for meetings, incentive travel, conventions, and exhibitions. Today, it is also alternatively referred to as the meetings industry, events industry, or business tourism.
“Rogen inn was built for the business and transient travelers,” explained manager Gene Bangayan, “We wanted to cater to that particular market and designed the inn with them in mind: modern, well-appointed and comfortable rooms, and an ample parking space for the convenience of the guests, especially the nighttime-arriving travelers.”

With the structure and design of the inn, the new hospitality establishment is often referred to as a hotel. Bangayan says it doesn’t come as a surprise and shares that Rogen Inn was conceptualized to exude the look and feel of a hotel. The inn has 328 Deluxe rooms across three buildings and a grand hall that can accommodate as much as 150 guests for a round table set-up with stage, 300 guests with a conference set-up. For smaller events, the hall can be divided into three smaller halls, each with its own service access.
The rise in the use of the event space is due to the confidence of the people to attend face-to-face gatherings. And this 2023, Rogen Inn is gearing up for a busier year ahead with the line-up of MICE events in Davao City, including the biggest MICE event in the country—MICECON.
MICECON or the Philippine M.I.C.E. Conference is the country’s premier gathering for professionals in the MICE industry. In 2019, Davao City won the bid to host its second MICE Convention on March 1 to 3, 2023.
“In the last quarter of 2022, Rogen Inn saw a surge of events and meetings, most times on the same day. This is when we realigned our priorities and executed a plan to increase the function rooms, then add the Business Center to Rogen Inn’s amenities soon after,” said Bangayan.
“We initially converted unopened facilities of the inn to boardrooms to meet the high demand of corporate events. It was a temporary arrangement. However, the bookings for rooms that can accommodate 20 to 40 people were constant. This made us decide to permanently convert the vast space intended for a gym in one of the buildings to meeting rooms. Since the conversion, the meeting rooms are in use regularly,” she said.
Rogen Inn is a member of the Davao Tourism Association (DATA), an accredited establishment of the Department of Tourism XI, and a partner hotel of Davao MICECON 2023. Between the three seals, Rogen Inn has been hosting official assemblies of the organizations.
With the coming MICECON 2023, the young hospitality establishment is getting busier by the day. Delegates and guests will be flying into Davao days before the convention date and Rogen Inn, the youngest among the identified accommodations, is poised to impress its guests.

Tourism Expo opens Friday, January 27 in Davao City
The Department of Tourism invites the public to the first Mindanao Travel Expo 2023.
