Teleperformance now in Davao, targets full operation in 2014


with BPOs locating in Davao City there are more businesses, more jobs, more demand for housing are happening here … with the recent entry here of the biggest customer service provider in the world, the move of “Teleperformance” may attract other BPOs of locating to the South … here’s my story of the recent BPO investor to Davao City 

ImageDAVAO CITY, July 15 (PNA) — The newly opened Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company in Davao City housed at SM City Davao aims to complete its full operation of 2,000 seats by 2014.

Teleperformance Asia Pacific president David Rizzo said there was no convincing made for them to locate here because they believe in the capacity of Davao City.

He noted how the city worked on the basic infrastructures that businesses like BPOs would need in a particular place.

“The growing economy of the city is a consideration why we decided to come,” he said.

He said in selecting locations they also pay close attention to the market and where it is going even as he said that their plans are also towards areas where there is availability of talents.

“We have high confidence in Davao,” he said.

He said their clients are premier companies from dominant verticals in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

The company is the leading global provider of outstanding customer experience management services which began operation in the Philippine in 1996 and has grown to b a preferred offshore contact center outsourcing option. It operates more than 11,000 workstations from business sites located across Metro Manila, Antipolo, Cebu and Davao City.

Teleperformance Philippines is a member of the Teleperformance Group that was founded in 1978. The Group has been serving companies around the world rolling out customer acquisition, customer care, technical support and debt collection programs on their behalf.

Rizzo said their presence in Davao allows them to nurture diverse talents to meet the anticipated market growth and ensure sustainability of their nationwide operations.

He said there operations here will enable them to continuously support the ICT-BPO industry’s goals of contributing to the nation’s economic growth and competency development of Filipinos.

He also said that they have met a partner like SM that provided them with the right spaces that they need in prime locations like in the case of Davao.

Davao is their 4th SM partnership, the other three are in SM City Fairview, SM City Masinag, Antipolo City and at SM Mall of Asia.

He said Davao is their 11th office in the coutry. The other locations are in Greenfield Pavilion Mall in Mandaluyong City, the Ortigas Center in Pasig City, Alphaland Southgate in Pasay City, Luxur Place, Bacolod City, Tektite Tower, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, Santana Grove, Sucat, Paranaque City and Insular Life, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City.

The possibility of expanding to other areas in Mindanao is a possibility even as Rizzo did not disclose specific areas where there are three sites that they are looking into. (PNA)

Davao Chamber, SM intensifies campaign on eWaste recycling and proper disposal


Recycling and proper disposal of waste materials from electronic devices to include computers, laptops and cellphones is the focus of massive advocacy campaign by SM City Davao and he Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.

SM City has set a Waste Market Day (WMD) every first Saturday of each month and this December it will be on December 5 where accredited buyers of waste materials will set up a buying booth at the mall’s parking lot to receive the items from the public.  This has already been institutionalize and Dabawenyos bring to the WMD their recyclable items. Davao Chamber, IBM Philippines forge agreement to set up tech center


The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) has forged an agreement with IBM Philippines for the establishment of a technology center that can used for free by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and other industries to improve their business operations.

DCCCII consultant for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) committee Andrei Fournier said the technology center will be set up at the DCCCII office along J.P. Laurel where IBM Philippines is donating software worth P1.4 million, while ICT Davao will also be donating three desktop personal computers.

The center could also be used by those who want to develop programs for SMEs for free as most of the basic problem of SMEs is the non-availability of software application and with the center they could develop the appropriate software for their business.

With IBM Philippines starting to move outside of Metro Manila, it has expanded to Davao City lately and their involvement in the project is a welcome development. The technology center will also be launched on November 26.


SM City Davao offers cyberzone


has launched its cyberzone with Philcom as its wi-fi provider.

SM regional manager for Mindanao Debby A. Go, who led the switch on ceremonies for the mall’s wifi access on October 31, 2009 said the move was to provide people in Mindanao with free access to internet.

“It will be SM’s greatest feature as it launched its free access wi-fi zone anywhere inside the mall. SM mall in Cagayan de Oro City is also a wi-fi zone,” Go said.

SM City Davao was SM’s 24th mall which provides free access to internet.

Joanne A. Abrogar, SM Supermall cyberzone operations manager, said five more malls will be equipped with wi-fi access before end of 2009.

Go Negosyo Caravan moves to Davao


Known entrepreneurs are coming to Davao City to launch the Go Negosyo Caravan inorder for the city to explore new and exciting entrepreneurial opportunities.

Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) chair Simeon Marfori II said they support the effort of the present administration to promote entrepreneurship and the Go Negosyo is a way of strengthening the Philippine economy.

The forum is a learning experience for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs and students and offer networking venue for them. It will promote and enhance the role of Davao City SME Center in advocating for entreneurship in Davao City.

Epson sees big business potential in Mindanao market




Epson Philippines Corporation, manufacturer of computer softwares and hardwares, printers, etc., is optimizing a big market in Mindanao by reaching many areas and tapping corporate businesses with reformulation of their packages and approaches.

 

Ed P. Bonoan, senior general manager and head for sales and marketing division, during its First Epson Davao Convention recently held here, believes that there is a lot of potential in the area, but the company has not maximized its presence.
